Before griping about modern marriage shafting men, work THIS fact into your calculus

There is a long list of complaints out there by men who have been burned by bad relationships. There’s no getting away from that. But that doesn’t mean marriage itself is a raw deal.

Enduring relationships between men and women have been critical to the foundation of civilization around the world for as far back as we can remember.

But between messy divorces, custody fights, and a bunch of other recent cultural changes men are getting gunshy about those long relationships lately… especially since anonymous uncommitted sex is not hard to come by.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Despite any arguments that men are shying away from marriage to protect both their wallets AND their hearts, here’s some good news about getting married.

Marriage is good for the heart.

Although that might sound like some kind of a slogan or an opening line to some cheezy poetry, there’s actual research to back it up.

Researchers at the University of Colorado found that men who never married are more than twice as likely to die from heart failure within five years of diagnosis compared to married men or women of any marital status.

The experts used data from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, an existing study of 6,800 American adults between 45 and 84 years old.

Researchers compared marital status and survival rates from the time of heart failure diagnosis from the 94 participants with heart failure at year 10 of the study. They also adjusted for other known risk factors, such as age and mood status.

This is one more medical reason showing marriage is good for men that you can add to other known reasons like Type 2 diabetes and dementia risks.
