PLOT TWIST: Elon Turns Tables On ADL… Threatens Defamation Suit
If these are their tactics, they might want to consider changing their name
The Anti-Defamation League once held a reputation of being champions of justice. What happened?
Maybe it’s a case of mission creep. Maybe it’s a reflection of the hard left turn that college has pushed into the collective consciousness of more recent graduates.
Whatever the explanation, the ADL was waging a clandestine fight with one of the world’s richest men. And he’s calling them out on it. More than that, he’s taking them to court.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Musk is alleging that the ADF is defaming him.
Elon has said from the beginning that he is not taking the approach that Twitter 1.0 took, where people could invoke their imagined ‘right not to be offended’ to insist that ideas with which they disagree be scrubbed from the internet.
Elon reiterated that point here.
The reason he did so was because he had something to say about the Anti-Defamation League using pressure tactics to scare off his advertisers.
He’s been called anti-Semitic. Advertisers doing business with his platform will be accused of being supporters of anti-Semites.
The implication is that the advertisers are Nazis. It’s a powerful threat that would result in a branding nightmare for the advertiser.
It’s similar to the tactic Sharpton and Jesse Jackson used in shaking down businesses to support their causes.

Twenty-two billion, you say?
That’s a big number.
But maybe that’s a one-off. Surely they don’t have a demonstrated track record of using heavy-handed tactics to throw their weight around, do they?
When Iceland was going to ban male circumcision, the ADL threatened to falsely smear Iceland, writing in a menacing letter.

It sure was. This is a screenshot from their website. Notice how quickly Iceland reversed its policy. It’s almost as though they were bullied into compliance somehow.
It’s still the same guy running the show over there, right?
