When a reporter knows he’s going to get stonewalled on a difficult question, but he has to keep asking it anyway, a professional will look for a fresh framing of the question.

Even if the question doesn’t get answered, the interaction itself might bring attention to the refusal to engage certain questions.

Doocy opted to use a light touch on a question that highlighted the unpleasant fact that Joe Biden had yet another document dump show up, and he would have to ask her about it again.

What made this so relatable is that it acknowledged the difficult position an official White House spokes person would find herself in, when faced with a drip-drip-drip of a scandal that just kept getting bigger.
