Hard on the heels of that question is another one: was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki an unfortunate but necessary act as part of the larger war with Japan, or was it — despite the bloody war already raging in the Pacific — war crime.

It appeared that it would have been simply a conventional bombing as seen in Europe in that day.

I encourage you to look up the bombing of Tokyo in March of ’45 and compare the stats — including lethality and scope of destruction — to that of even Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
